Scotwind
Is Scotwind heading for another industrial fiasco? asks Brian Wilson
Perhaps he should run for election so he can effect the sort of change he wants to see .... oh wait!
Andy Stephen Have i missed something, when did the Scottish Government gain control of offshore renewable energy contracts?
Frankie Maxwell
Yes, wind cannot sustain our energy requirements as it is inconsistent. Forget it and go for wave power or nuclear.
Richard Cruickshanks
Everything else they do on land is a disaster, now off shore. I hope Nicola Sturgeon goes on her space programme and gets stuck. She could rule there, then all our disasters would be over.
Diane Ferguson
They are not Scottish waters, they are UK waters.
Catherine Johnston
Brian, it is sad that you always seem to seek Scotland’s failure just to attack the Scottish Government. Pity your party was so lamentable when in power.
Yvonne Mackay
Power generation and supply in the UK is close to a sophisticated monopoly, with a virtual certainly of profits, and a guaranteed selling price - unlike many other industries. In return for that privilege energy companies should be required to share more with the host nation.
Mike Robertson
We’re so glad you’re always on Scotland’s side, Brian, what would we be without you?
Alan Mitchell Doesn’t matter if Scottish or UK, wind farms will all be owned by foreign companies anyway, mostly Spanish, Portuguese and German like they are now. Wake up people, long term consequences of foreigners running your strategic assets is plain stupid. Should give the British people chance to invest through some kind of bonds which would give decent returns in future.
Thomas Robert Ian Bown
Last Monday I looked at the wind generated electricity supplied to the grid .. it was 1 per cent; on Tuesday it had risen to 3.2 per cent.
Eric F Anderson
Labour just have to back an Independent Scotland and they could be putting their ideas into action. What's that Brian, you'd rather the Tories run the show from London! When was it you last were elected? Oh, aye, 21 years ago.
Alan Kidd
Time for Rolls Royce mini nuclear reactors.
Adrian Weir Always has been. If you are daft enough to think wind energy is going to keep the lights on, you’re the problem. Its lucky if you get 20 per cent if that and to say it’s green energy is a joke, as when the turbine blades are replaced they go to landfill.

Refugees present to Scottish councils as homeless after hosting arrangements collapse
The Nightingale buildings went up quick enough, only to be pulled down again. These would have helped this crisis. Build prefabs to get people off the streets. Stop paying hotels exorbitant amounts of taxpayers money while we are all suffering from hardships during these extraordinary times. Prefabs were good enough for wartime families of our own.
Valerie Rydzinski
Not a surprise. We can't sort our own homeless situation, so where did they think these people would live?
Tracey Hamilton
No surprise there then! Scottish government grandstanding saying we will accept them and criticising the UK government, then when it actually comes to putting it into practice, they fail at it same as they fail at everything else. Time they were shown the door.
Ken Nunn
Welcome to Scotland! This is what happens when a gormless leader makes a statement in Parliament without researching what action would have to be taken to bring her promises into action.
Margaret Mcculloch If this is true it heaps shame on us all.
Alan White
The English government was supposed to match them up to people who volunteered to take them in. Under the English scheme that took it out of the Scottish government’s hands. This is a failing of the English government and these people are going to the Scottish government to fix things.
Daz Ostler
Well, lovely to see the compassion of the Scottish people shine through! In case you haven’t noticed, these people have been forced to flee their homes due to a maniac forcing their way through their country through no fault of their own! I highly doubt they would have left otherwise.
