Is Qatar OK?

Given its poor stance on human rights, we asked for your thoughts on the football World Cup being held in Qatar this year.

It should never have went there but now it has compensation should be paid to all the families of workers who have died in the construction and those that have worked under slave conditions. The companies that employed them should be subject to sanctions and barred from future contracts.

Alistair Stewart

Wonder how much someone had to pay for the rights.

Christine Schooling

I'll wager that there'll be less goals, and less atmosphere than any other World C up. No bevvy, stricter policing and heat that could kill a horse makes it sound a great laugh. A minute’s silence before every game for the modern day slaves that died making the stadiums should

be observed.

Stevie Dee It’ll be the only World Cup that ever ended in the Qatar Finals!

Johnny Mac

Shocking human rights record and they have the audacity to ban Russia for their human rights. Money and only money counts.

Gormley Simpson Jennifer

FIFA is corrupt, it's all about money

David Hancock Just think, once the World Cup is over they’ll have a nice stadium to stone people and execute infidels in.

Get tough

Boris Johnson will this week seek to galvanise a tough response from allies to the crisis in Ukraine as Russia is accused of massacring civilians, with scenes akin to a “horror movie”.

There's plenty evidence of

Russian war crimes there. The perpetrators must be put before an international court. The buck stops with Putin.

Patricia Anderson Tories awash with laundered Russian money.

Liz Rae Can you not say something about the post about Russian killing civilians. Think you must be SNP, Westminster and Boris has to be mentioned before Russian atrocities.

Robert Thorburn Liz Rae, such a stupid thing to say over such a horrible situation.

Peter Reeves Liz Rae, is that the first thing that comes to your mind when you seen this. Money and politics? Wow.

John W Todd

Hold them accountable.

Johnny Mac

What sort of response beyond a no-fly zone or troops on the ground to establish if war crimes have been perpetrated can they do?

Luckie Mucklebakit

Black ops, that's all we can and should do, their tech is not up to it today.

Gavin Beattie

Don't expect support from the EU, the heart of Europe, Hungary, has just elected Viktor Orban for a fourth term.

Roastin

This just looks like the petulant act of a thug who has been denied his own way. Orders for this came from the top, of that there is little doubt. Down to the cynical booby-trapping of bodies. The similarity to the last days of Adolf and co are striking. That's who we are dealing with.

Goodnight Dot

Eastenders star June Brown, who played Dot Cotton, has died at 95.

A great character, RIP Dot.

Elaine Mcrae

RIP June, she was great.

Rose Hudson

Haven't watched Eastenders in over ten years. But what a life she had with Charlie and Nick and all the rest of them until good old Jim came along.

Henry Low Hun Sad, very sad, but she had a good innings.

Richard Leslie Johnstone

Stand the cold

Arbroath FC'S Gayfield Park is a delightfully archaic stadium that could soon be gracing the Scottish Premiership, said Ronnie Kerr.

My home town: grew up looking over it – happy days. Only ever on the pitch there when in egg and spoon race at Primary School sports day! Won a gold fish at the switchies next door.

Ald Macleod

I visited in April 20 years ago as Raith Rovers team coach driver. It was a cauld place on that days even though it was bright and sunny.

Brian Shepherd

Nice January place to visit. Three men and a sheep cowering in the magnificent stand as the waves lash over your head. Warning! This place is only for hairy chested men with strong sense of adventure.
