Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the killing of civilians in the Ukrainian town of Bucha, and other events in the country, do not “look far short of genocide”.

@Wiidavie said: “All the sanctions imposed and all the sanctions to be imposed will not help the civilians in Ukraine. The only way to stop this is for a no-fly zone. If Nato attacks Russian planes and it drags us all into the war so be it. How can we sit back and watch these atrocities?”

@boab_help posted: “Unfortunately anything ‘Boris Johnson says’ is a turn-off for me. He may be correct, however. Get a trustworthy PM please.”

@Davidadfisher commented: “It is nothing like genocide and we need to start using words accurately.”

@markcameron666 remarked: “The problem is that if you keep telling Putin he's going to be punished after this then he has nothing to lose. He'll just keep on doing worse things as he knows it won't get any worse for him.”

@Chriswe82903812 suggested: “Russia's actions in Ukraine do not look as bad as those of the Saudis carried out in Yemen using weapons of mass destruction supplied by the UK. Yes, Russia must answer for its crimes, and so must all nations that commit or enable such acts.” @Smith1987sam declared: “Johnson has shown great leadership during the times of warfare and has been praised by other world leaders. We are fortunate to have Johnson at the helm and not ‘that other guy’.”

Ed Sheeran has won a High Court copyright battle over his 2017 hit Shape of You. A judge ruled that the singer-songwriter had not plagiarised a 2015 song.

@durnc said: “Good result and important ruling. Songwriters are already stepping on eggshells when creating just in case there are similarities to previous works of other artists. This decision going the other way could have opened the floodgates for more frivolous cases and accusations.”

@sojozmogo agreed: “Songwriting as we know it would have been over if it had gone the other way.”

@hyperfantasia posted: “He's one of very few in the public eye with any actual writing talent.”

@Peterfearns added: “He should get nine years for Galway Girl.”
