Houston Texas lines up at Ayr seeking a third straight win

- By IAIN FERGUSON

The lightly raced Houston Texas can provide his trainer Nicky Richards with a winner at Ayr Racecourse today on the seven-race Racing TV Raceday. eight-year-old gelding is looking for a third successive win in the Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap Chase over the marathon trip of three miles and three furlongs at 2.05pm after back-toback successes at Carlisle in February.

Sean Quinlan takes the mount on the Richards horse who may be given most to do by the Lucinda Russell-trained Destiny Is All, who won at the track last month.

Hidden Commander carries a 7lb penalty after his recent Kelso win but is capable of defying that in the Bet At Racingtv.com Handicap Chase over two miles and five and a half furlongs at 2.40pm. He won by 20 lengths at the Borders track and could have plenty in hand.

Lucinda Russell saddles the consistent Your Place in the 100% Racingtv Profits Back To Racing Handicap Hurdle at 3.50pm. The six-yearold mare was second at Ayr in February to Desaray Girl before again filling the runnerthe up slot at Hexham in the middle of March. Her jockey Patrick Wadge takes off a handy 10lb claim and that might just swing things her way from the Nicky Richards-trained Release The Kraken.

Irish raider Ailie Rose should be supported in the Join Racing TV Now Novices’ Hurdle.

Stuart Crawford’s mare won comfortably at the seaside venue early in the new year, beating subsequent Listed winner Fonzerelli into third place.

Fonzerelli’s trainer Rebecca Menzies fields Hasty Brook in this three-mile contest, a horse who won a maiden hurdle in Ireland for Joseph O’brien before finishing second here on his stable debut a month ago. There is nothing to choose between the pair on ratings, but Ailie Rose’s 7lb mares’ allowance is a big advantage under Brian Hughes.

At Newmarket, Cachet can earn herself a tilt at Classic glory with victory in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes.

One win from eight starts as a two-year-old might not sound inspiring, but George Boughey’s filly enjoyed an excellent juvenile campaign.

Following her successful debut on the Rowley Mile, Cachet went on to be be placed i n the Rockfel Stakes and the Fillies’ Mile and rounded off her campaign by being beaten just a length into fourth place at the Breeders’ Cup.

If Cachet returns this season in the same form as she ended the last, she should prove hard to beat as she looks to stake a claim for the 1000 Guineas.
