#DOUGLASROSS
As it emerged Boris Johnson will be fined over lockdown parties, Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross said he should not be removed as PM “at this time”.
@Lynnh22 said: “He is implying that the government is ‘stable!’ Which government is he looking at?”
@Jackmansavfv wrote: “We can't keep using a war 2,500 miles to justify a lack of action – the French are literally having an election in a month.”
@Johndon tweeted: “Wasn't it @Conservatives who replaced Thatcher during the Iraq war?”
@karlgrafton wrote: “Britain is not at war – Ross won't need reminding his party changed leaders six months into World War Two.”
@W12newman added: “Only relevant if a new person was to have a radically different Ukraine policy, Boris has done the obvious ‘well’ in regard to the war but no more than any other leader would have done or could do.”
@JWG2017 said: “Note for any future PM: you may break the law if somewhere in the world there’s a war on.”
@rantover wrote: “Maybe Ross should consider his own position then, supporting the breaking of the law.”
#FABRICANT
Tory MP Michael Fabricant told the BBC: “I don't think at any time [Boris Johnson] thought he was breaking the law... he thought just like many teachers and nurses who after a very long shift would go back to the staff room and have a quiet drink.”
@danieljfeather wrote: “I don’t think many teachers and nurses were getting on the lash in schools and hospitals.”
@Cpjelmore tweeted:
“Is this now the @ Conservatives’ line? Let’s blame the teachers and nurses (who worked tirelessly during Covid) for PM and Chancellor breaking the rules?”
@dinosofos said: “Michael Fabricant on 5 Live defending the suitcase of booze. “There is no bar in Downing Street… That’s the only way you can actually get any alcohol into Downing Street”. Incredible.”
@smithsmm added: “Staff room was closed. Staff were isolated in their bubbles with their class, they had dinner in their classroom with their class. We also have no alcohol in our workplace. I thought I was over #Partygate seems I’m even more angry about it now.”
