Dalgleish in top form as he nets 261-1 Musselburgh hat-trick

- By GORDON BROWN

Keith Dalgleish took Musselburgh by storm yesterday when he struck with a 2611 hat-trick supplied by Ayr Empress, The Thin Blue Line and El Picador.

The latter is co-owned by Hamilton Park chairman Ian Good and his daughter Catriona and he said: “He’s been a great horse for us and has also won over hurdles. I think the plan is to target him at the Sundayseriesmeetingathamilton Park a week on Sunday.”

Saffie Osborne rode her first Musselburgh winner on just her second ride at the track on impressive juvenile winner Jungle Time, trained by inform Karl Burke. She said: “It’s a lovely course and I’m hoping to be coming back up again during the the summer. I rode this filly when she was second on her debut at Yarmouth and she won really well - she might turn out to be smart.”

Lanarkshire-born Paula Muir also recorded her first strike at the East Lothian venue, at the 29th attempt, aboard Micky-hammond-trained The Resdev Way in the Miller Homes Handicap.

Muir said: “He is one of the easiest winners I’ve ever ridden and it’s the fourth time I’ve won on him. I’m based with

Rebecca Menzies and things are starting to pick up for me now this season.”

Meanwhile, Yibir can score for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin when he goes in the Betfair Exchange Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket today.

The Moulton Paddocks handler, along with big-race jockey Williambuick, havemadeafine start to the season and look set formoregrouplevelhonoursin thisone-mile-four-furlongcontest on the Rowley Mile.

The six-times winner emerged victorious four times in his three-year-old season, firstly capturing the Bahrain Trophy and Great Voltigeur on home soil, before striking twice overseas in the Jockey

Club Derby Invitational Stakes at Belmont and then at the Breeders' Cup.

That final Del Mar success in the Breeders' Cup Turf marked him out as one of finest operators at this distance and although tasting defeat when sent off the 7-2 favourite for the Dubai Sheema Classic on his first run of 2022, it does little to sway the opinion Yibir will take plenty of beating.

At Goodwood, Raasel can get backtowinningwaysinthewilliamhillpickyourplaceshandicap. Mick Appleby's five-yearold won five in a row at the back end of last season and was not disgraced when blowing away the cobwebs at Musselburgh earlier this month.
