SNP MP Joanna Cherry has challenged Nicola Sturgeon and Ruth Davidson to a public debate on Gender Recognition Act reform after both declined to define what a woman is. @Futurescotlands wrote: “Joanna trying to break out of her vacuum flask here. It’s very telling when a politician tries to get folks interested in a non-story. Look at the unionist parties in Scotland, for example . This is no different!”

@Eilidhbee wrote: “Joanna is an exceptionally highly qualified individual who actually understands what the implications of these issues are in law...” @Gbear48c tweeted: “I don’t see the need or the reasoning behind a public debate…. Surely you have made your view known to the FM previously. As for @Ruthdavidsonpc, what is the possible value in her inclusion?”

@Rogue_74 replied: “Both Sturgeon and Davidson have made it a priority. A public debate will allow the public to determine the validity of the policy.” @Naburkinshaw said: “I would really love to see this happen. Not because I'm expecting [Cherry] to wipe the floor with her (although

I am) but because we really need an actual grown- up discussion happening with none of the hyperbole and drama that has characterised the debate until now.”

#BEERGATE

Durham Police is to investigate Sir Keir Starmer over allegations he broke lockdown rules by having a glass of beer in an constituency office. @Leftdoublequick said: “Why? He did nothing wrong. H e had a drink when there were no restrictions. How low will our Tory Police Force sink?”

@sjmyles tweeted: “Good. Perhaps they could also take another look at Dominic Cummings while they're at it.”

@andylfc17 wrote: “Don’t you all know there is a war on?”

@sherlocksspring said: “And if no wrongdoing is found again, what then? Any chance of Met P olice updat ed us on the five other lockdown breaches involving Boris Johnson they're still investigating?” @krabrichard said: “This is to take the news from the Sue Gray report, obviously it's coming with a bang.” @wceebee said: “Are they re-investigating Cummings too, it’s only fair? ”
