Conservative MP Steve Baker said on the BBC’S Politics Live that Boris Johnson’s ‘oven-ready’ Brexit deal was signed under duress.

@mrjamesob wrote: “Odd that critics of it were dismissed as 'Remoaners' while his ERG colleague Iain Duncan Donuts stood up in the House of Commons to mock the notion that MPS might need more time to scrutinise it.”

@cesspete joked: “We thank Boris for getting Brexit done. If it wasn’t for him, we would still be reading through every page of the treaty. Sometimes you can read a book just by looking at the pictures.”

@Lozicamp said: “Yes, I remember people practically begging for more time to be granted to consider things but he was having none of it. Love the alternative truths they've learned from the Trumpian style.”

@wceebee wrote: “They are changing their stories since Brexit hasn’t worked out the way they wanted.”

@ceejayepping tweeted: “The person putting him under duress when signing that deal was himself. He was the one desperate to get the ‘Christmas Present’ plaudits from the right wing press. It’s as if he didn’t understand the implications of signing an international treaty.”

@Expattennisfan said: “It does seem wildly ironic, that the only people complaining about the protocol are the ones who designed it, campaigned on the strength of it and voted for it.”

@uzesgooner wrote: “Obviously we should never have left, but in hindsight, we really should have got May's deal over the line.”

@ows1892 wrote: “Nothing to do with anyone but the ERG. They own this.”

@polquapiquee said: “I don't want a PM who signs things he doesn't agree with under duress. Doesn't sound very ‘Churchillian’ does it?"

@paulkearney2 said: “The 'duress' was the avalanche of experts and MP'S telling people like Baker it was rubbish and would fall apart. The 'duress' was how hard he had to stick his fingers in his ears to claim they'd ‘Got Brexit done’ And now its not his fault, of course.”

@richielionel81 wrote: “They had an 80 seat majority! Not forgetting ‘we held all the cards, they needed us more than we needed them’.”

@andrewwilliaaf said: “There was the option of another extension but Johnson decided not to ask for it.”
