Former transport minister Derek Mackay will be asked to provide written evidence to an ongoing parliamentary probe into the ferries fiasco.

Crank that shredder up.

It will be interesting to see Derek Mackay's version of events since being thrown under the political bus by his former "friends and colleagues". That’s, of course, as long as the documents are not redacted, or made subject of a gagging order.

Anna Mosspaul Did he ask if he could text his reply?

Alexander Duncan Spin doctors will be working on that just now, ready for him to sign.

Robert Thorburn I was impressed by the work Derek Mackay did when the rail company in England said after weeks of time the Flying Scotsman could not journey to Tweedbank as the line had not been checked. Within 2 days the trip was back on thanks to DM working with Scottish railworkers. He's not all bad.

Hope they don't "lose" the documents…

Callum Macleod Why bother, yet another waste of public money?

David Mckendrick I feel yet another whitewash coming.

Mike Scales "The minister responsible for the sign-off of the contract for hulls 801 and 802 in 2015". No word about John Swinney who had the ultimate say in this.

James Stewart Or Sturgeon. No way she wasn't involved given that she can't keep her nose out of anything.

Old Man of Hoy Apparently Swinney as

Finance Minister at the the time gave “Budgetary Approval” for the project to go ahead. The first question he should have asked prior to giving approval is “What are the risks” but he did not. It is almost inconceivable the person responsible for the nation’s finances should have failed to carry out this very basic action. Gross incompetence does not even begin to describe his complete lack of Due Diligence.

Gordon Clifford You are correct. No due diligence, no refund guarantee and no regard for the financial risks. In the real world he would have been sacked.
