Paterson on the ball with Hearts’ stadium hotel
◆ Edinburgh’s Tynecastle Park has appointed a new hotel manager to lead the UK’S first club-owned and club operated hotel within a football stadium.
Derek Paterson, 40, will lead an in-house team to manage the new Tynecastle Park Hotel, which is totally integrated within the main stand at Hearts’ iconic Tynecastle Park.
With over 24 years of hotel and hospitality management experience, Paterson will oversee all aspects of the Tynecastle Park Hotel launch. He will subsequently manage all areas of the hotel’s business, including managing the transition of the Skyline Restaurant to a seven-day operation.
He said: “I’m really excited to be taking on this new challenge as Hearts celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2024.
“As the only hotel of its kind to be found anywhere in the UK, we’re confident of being able to offer a truly unique hotel experience in our iconic Tynecastle Park Stadium – the home of Heart of Midlothian Football Club.” Scottish law firm Gillespie Macandrew has appointed rural law specialist, Lizzie Mcfadzean to its partnership.
Mcfadzean joins the firm’s market-leading land and rural business team from Anderson Beaton Lamond and brings almost 20 years’ experience advising in the sector with particular expertise in the sale and purchase of large farming and forestry estates.
She will be based in the firm’s Perth office and is the sixth partner appointment at Gillespie Macandrew in the last 12 months, bolstering the total number to 29. Scale-up expert Phillip Chambers joins as Orbex’s new Chief Executive Officer and Miguel Belló Mora leaves his post as Director General of the Spanish Space Agency to join as Executive Chair.
Chambers joins with more than two decades of experience in building innovative companies, scaling technology platforms for some of Europe’s most successful start-ups, including Gumtreeand Qype
