Halliday feels revitalised at Motherwell

- Gavin Mccafferty

Andy Halliday is loving every moment of his time on the pitch for Motherwell after netting his first goal for his new club in a 5-0 rout of Ross County.

Motherwell are unbeaten in four matches since the midfielder joined from Hearts, initially on loan but with a further one-year contract agreed.

The 32-year-old said: “I’ve really enjoyed it since I’ve been in. It’s only been two or three weeks but it feels like I’ve been here a lot longer. I feel really settled. The lads, staff, manager are all great.

“Being back on the pitch again after sitting on the sidelines for so long has been great for me. There was never a point where I fell out of love with football but you do miss that feeling of being back on the pitch.

“So it’s been good for me that the games have come thick and fast. Maybe not so much for the old fatigue levels but building up that match fitness.

“The staff and medical team have been great at that side as well. They have been really understanding about my situation.

“Prior to coming here I hadn’t started a game since April but that’s four games now and for me that’s brilliant. There won’t be any complaints for me.”

Motherwell face a difficult Scottish Cup fifth-round tie against Morton at Cappielow tomorrow night.

Dougie Imrie’s side are unbeaten in 12 games and have scored 10 goals without replay in their last three matches.

“Fridayisamassivegame,” added Halliday. “We have to go again. With the ambition we’ve got, we want to make an imprint in the cup competitions. Morton are in a good space as well. We’re looking forward to it.”
