Fairview International School, Bridge of Allan, is the first in Scotland to offer uninterrupted International Baccalaureate (IB) to students, through which it offers a holistic learning experience to children aged from five to 18.
The IB programme is an internationally recognised qualification with a worldwide standardised curriculum, and is highly regarded by top universities across the globe.
The school’s mission is to nurture inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who will help create a better and more peaceful world through an education system that builds intercultural understanding and respect.
The school is formally recognised as an IB Continuum school, and is the only one of its kind in the whole of Scotland offering an uninterrupted IB education delivered through three IB core programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP).
Providing an accessible and equitable route to an IB education, pupils graduating nursery in 2024 will be eligible for Fairview’s Explorer package, which is aimed at supporting children at nursery as they make the transition to fulltime education. The Explorer campaign has a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver for year one entry, followed by 20 per cent off years two and three, meaning initial costs are more affordable than most nurseries.
Centrally located near Stirling, the school benefits from exceptional transport links and is widely accessible for students across the Central Belt. Regular direct train services run to Bridge of Allan from both Edinburgh and Glasgow, and Fairview also offers a private bus service collecting students from as far as Abernethy in Perth and Kinross, and Linlithgow in West Lothian.
While being well connected, Fairview also possesses desirable rural qualities, namely the extensive grounds in which it stands including acres of woodland. As a certified Forest School, this outdoor space is the perfect environment for students to learn while gaining a sense of responsibility and respect for nature.
As it is also next to Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, Fairview’s location also benefits from access to Stirling University’s exceptional indoor and outdoor sporting facilities, including its pool which a number of Fairview students currently use to train alongside Olympic swimmers.
Fairview’s commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students is reflected in its student hub, designed to provide students aged 16-18 with a space to work and socialise. The hub has large dual-aspect event rooms, an open plan kitchen-diner, and a lounge with a separate study area and a library. It was created to encourage senior students to practice independence in preparation for their next steps in life after school.
The main school building is a historic piece of architecture, built in the neo-jacobean period in the 1860s.
However, inside the traditional frame are state-of-the-art modern facilities and services, such as exceptional internet access, AV equipment, interactive screens, and more.
There has never been a better time to consider an IB education with research findings that IB diploma students are three times more likely to enrol in a top-20 university than pupils taking the equivalent A levels.
Once at university, they are 40 per cent more likely than matched A-level qualifiers to obtain a first or upper second-class honours degree.
Fairview is committed to helping every student reach their personal and academic goals, preparing them for further education and life, so it’s no surprise its 2023 MYP student scores collectively exceeded the global average by four points, earning the school a 100 per cent success rate.
Fairview Bridge of Allan’s global connections and diverse student-parent community and faculty provide exceptional universal learning opportunities to families based in Central Scotland.
