Wilder dismisses clash between Blades pair in damaging Wolves defeat

- Nick Mashiter

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder dismissed the clash between Blades team-mates Jack Robinson and Vini Souza in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat at Wolves.

The pair squared up, went head-to-head and engaged in a shoving match during the Premier League loss at Molineux.

Pablo Sarabia’s winner condemned the visitors to a 19th defeat in 26 games and left them eight points from safety at the bottom of the table. But, despite their plight and players’ frustrationsboiling over, wild er insisted there were no issues.

“That happens at every club up and down the country, three or four times a year ,” he said .“of course you can’t condone it, it has to stay at a level, we have a responsibility to the young kids out there playing.

“That happens behind closed doors at every level, at Man City and the bottom of League Two.

“You don’t want to see it but it does. VAR spotted it and for me, you just move on pretty quickly. They were told about their responsibilities at half-time. We talked to the boys and they are fine and cool.”

Meanwhile, Brentford head coach Thomas Frank believes West Ham boss David Moyes deserves more respect for the “unbelievable” job he has done ,.

Moyes guided the Irons to a first trophy in 43 years last season with victory in the Europa Conference League final but has come under fire from some supporters following a winless run of eight matches.

West Ham host Brentford tonight and those disgruntled fans will be expecting a muchimproved display from the 6-0 defeat by arsenal at the london Stadium earlier this month.

Frank, though, sees no reason why Moyes, who revealed he has been offered a new contract, should see his position under scutiny.

“I know mo yes quite well.i like him as a person and as a coach, but even taking that aside and looking at the bigger picture, I think he deserves more credit,” Frank said. “I think he has done a top job, there is no two ways about that. I think under Moyes they have been finishing fifth and sixth, or sixth and seventh, I can’t remember exactly, but (that is) unbelievable.”
