Supplement shines a light on personal finance

- Sue Allen

Scotsman Money, a new personal finance strand, will be launched this month covering what people need to know to help them manage their money, including savings, investments, mortgages, pensions, tax planning and much more.

The regular Scotsman Money supplement will start on 30 March and will be published with The Scotsman on the last

Saturday of every month. It will include informative editorial and expert comment and opinion on topical personal finance matters, as well as a section answering readers’ questions.

A Scotsman Money email newsletter keeping people upto-date with the latest personal finance developments and a podcast series providing further in-depth analysis and discussion will also be unveiled.

Calton Wealth Management has signed up as headline sponsor and the new personal finance strand is also supported by Waverton Wealth and Aberdein Considine Wealth.

Scots man money is designed to help people make sense of often complex financial issues. This will include policy changes, such as those announced by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt in the spring Budget, and what these mean for people living in Scotland. Measures in the budget included a further 2p reduction in the rate of National Insurance contributions for workers from 6 April, and the creation of a British ISA offering an extra £5,000 tax-free allowance for savers wanting to invest in the UK.

Rosemary Gallagher, The Scotsman head of commercial content, said: “Scotsman Money will soon be on hand to support people as they make long-term financial decisions, such as ensuring they are prepared for retirement or how to help family members onto the housing ladder, and much more.”
