Wass puts down roots at Dobbies as new CFO

◆ Garden centre retailer Dobbie has strengthen­ed its senior leadership team with the appointmen­t of Jonathan Wass as Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Joining Dobbies from his role as CFO of Cancer Research UK, Wass brings more than 20 years’ experience from across some of the biggest names in British retail. He is a former Chief Financial Officer at Boots UK; Commercial Finance Director at Sainsbury’s; Finance Director at Morrisons; and Head of Business Accounting at Asda.

His appointmen­t follows the recent announceme­nt of Andy Hannan joining Dobbies as Commercial Director to deliver the garden centre group’s new commercial strategy. Wass

will be tasked with setting the strategic direction of Dobbies’ financial operations, bringing his extensive experience from other retailers to the role.

He said: “Dobbies is an exciting prospect. I love the brand and as a keen gardener, I’m a regular visitor.”

KPMG UK has appointed a new Tax Director in its Aberdeen office to bolster the support the firm provides to businesses in the region.

Anna Morrison joins the

profession­al services firm after 14 years advising groups within the energy sector, 13 of those at Wood plc.

She has over 17 years’ experience in the tax industry and her new role will see her work with clients on tax issues both locally and globally. Morrison said: “I am delighted to have joined KPMG and to be working with a wide range of clients on a variety of tax issues.”

SIS Ventures has appointed experience­d impact finance expert Amir Rizwan to the key nonexecuti­ve role of chair of its investment committee.

Rizwan, who also joins the SIS Ventures board, brings more than 15 years’ experience in impact investing and the financial services sector to the role. As director for the London Social Venture Fund project, he is currently responsibl­e for leading a consortium of ten universiti­es and eight private sector partners to deliver a social venture fund for London.

He said: “Having spent the last decade or so supporting organisati­ons with their philanthro­pic investment activities, I’m looking forward to sharing that experience with the team at SIS Ventures.”
