Phil digs deep to help steer Dobbies into the future
Phil Thomas has joined the UK’S leading garden centre retailer, Dobbies, as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Phil joins from Costa Coffee, where he has been CMO for the last 3 years.
Phil brings to Dobbies over 30 years of wide-ranging marketing experience in both retail and consumer goods.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Phil will be responsible for all customer and marketing activity. He will also have responsibility for supercharging the award-winning Dobbies Club, which has over 1.3 million members, increasing its appeal to both existing and new members.
Phil said: “Dobbies is a wonderful brand with an amazing 159-year heritage of helping people enjoy their gardens, and an equally
great future ahead.”
The Scottish Building Federation has promoted Paul Mitchell to Operations Director, replacing Managing Director Vaughan Hart.
Paul, who had been serving as Head of Employment Affairs, said: “I am proud and delighted to join the SBF Board and take over this new role.
"I have been with SBF for over 14 years and fully understand how important the building and construction
sector is to the Scottish economy.
"I will continue the fantastic work undertaken by Vaughan and will remain focused on representing our Members’ interests in critical issues such as skills, apprenticeships and the need to create more green jobs across the country in addition to continuing to deliver a range of business support services directly to Members.”
Braehead, one of the UK’S most popular retail and leisure destinations, owned by property company SGS and managed by Global Mutual in conjunction with Savills as property managers, has announced that Ashley Bisland has been appointed as Centre Director.
Ashley first joined the Braehead team in December 2022 as Deputy Centre Director, with over 12 years of experience at Savills – specialising in shopping centre management. She has a proven track record in terms of placemaking, destination marketing and in providing compelling guest experiences.
Ashley has been successfully managing the site since February 2024. She has lived locally since she was a child.
