Breaghey Netflix tops Dungannon at 5800gns

BREAGHEY Netflix 22 from Andrew Clarke, Tynan, Co Armagh, secured the top price of 5800gns at Dungannon Simmental Sale held at Dungannon Farmers Mart, staged alongside a small selection of Salers.

There was a buoyant demand throughout achieving a 100% clearance for the bulls and heifers, with 10 bulls averaging £3580.5, up by £505.5 on the year and for three more sold.

The December 2022 born bull is a son of Woodhall Ferrari 14, and out of Breaghey Vida 2 (TF), a Dermotstow­n Delboy daughter. Netflix 22 was purchased by Richard Houston, Rostrevor.

The overall champion, Craigy Neo, from WJ Dodd, Saintfield, Ballynahin­ch, Co Down, later realised 4600gns.

“This was just a stand out bull for me on the day, having both length and shape, and carrying plenty of style,” said pre-sale judge, Robin Boyd of the Slievenagh herd, Portglenon­e, Co Antrim.

October 2022 born he is sired by Keeldrum Gambler 15, bred by Craigy Beatrice J6 and found a new home with Raymond Bowden, Stewartsto­wn.

The Dodds also sold Craigy Nash 22 for 3200gns to Eric Speers, Hamiltonsb­awn, Co Armagh. Another by Gambler, this similarly aged bull is out of Craigy Jessica K2 (P). Two Craigy females,

both Keeldrum daughters, also

2700gns, and respective­ly.

The reserve champion in the bulls came in the form of Ashland Nobleman from P Kelly, Ballreagh, Tempo, Co Fermanagh. This September 2022 born, is sired by Omorga Volvo and out of Raceview Mollyfortu­na. This bull was knocked down for 3400gns to Neill Donaghy, Co Londonderr­y.

On the same price tag was the October 2022 born bull, Bridgewate­r Farm Newry from JN Glasgow, Cookstown, Co Tyrone. Sired by Auchoracha­n Hercules 16 (ET) Ex 92, he is bred from Bridgewate­r Farm Tanya, a Ranfurly Confederat­e C24 11 EX94 daughter. Kathleen Kearney, Downpatric­k was the final bidder.

Gambler sold for 2600gns

when selling to James Baird, Kilkeel, Co Down.

Two bulls sold for 3000gns, firstly was Kilbride Farm Nightrider 22 (P) from WH Robson and Sons, Kilbride, Ballyclare, Co Antrim. This September 2022 born bull is a son of Kilbride Farm Jetstream 18 (P), and is out of Kilbride Farm Fanni 76L (PP).

Edenbann Nugent from Nevin Smith, Garvagh, Coleraine, made the same money when selling to Stephen Galloway, Downpatric­k, Co Down. October 2022 born he is sired by Saltire Impressive, and is out of Edenbann Jewell, an Edenbann Emperor daughter.

Among the Salers breed, a top price of 3000gns was paid for the reserve champion, Carrick View Sullivan from G McCall. This 18-month-old bull sold to Dorothy Busby, Ballygawle­y, Co Tyrone.
