SOME 926 sheep sold at Craig Wilson’s sale witnessed 799 hoggs average 363p per kg.

Topping the trade at £220 was a Texel from JG McMillan and Co, Over Airies, whilst Beltex made 432p for RJ Fleming, Castle Sininess.

Cast sheep sold to £165 for Suffolk cross ewes from Over Airies.

Dumfries

AN average of 373.5p per kg was achieved for 425 hoggs at C and D Auctions’ sale.

Beltex topped the sale at 463p or £220 from J Muir and Son, Cleughbrae.

A Bluefaced Leicester tup from Guelt, led the cast sheep at £214.

Penrith

BELTEX hoggs made 528p per kg for Messrs Holliday and Graham, Bolton Wood Lane, Wigton, at Penrith and District Farmers’ Marts’ sale.

Hoggs (3831) averaged 394p per kg and sold to £255 for a 85kg Charollais from Grange Walls.

Huntly

TEXELS led the proceeding­s at United Auctions’ sale of 1758 old season lambs when selling to 439p per kg and £234 from Mallyrush, Alvah and North Dorlaither­s, Turriff, respective­ly, to cash in at 370p.

Cast sheep sold to £283 for a Texel ewe from Corsairtly, Keith.

Longtown

SOME 5664 hoggs cashed in at 373.2p per kg at C and D Auctions’ sale.

Selling to 500p for Beltex from R and J Lines, Killocraw, Campbeltow­n and to £270 for Texels from WJ and JG Bell, Kinninghal­l, Hawick.

Cast sheep (3369) reached £325 for Texel ewes from J Connell Farms, Wanton Walls, Lauder.

Cast cattle attained 228p for a Galloway from WJ Henderson, Whitehill, Corrie and to £1174 from Whitehill, Angus.

Stirling (UA)

SOME 9652 prime sheep sold at United Auctions’ sale saw 7850 hoggs average 365.24p per kg.

A top of 507p was paid for Beltex from Easter Ochtermuth­ill, and to £246 for Texels from Abercairne­y.

Texel ewes from South Flanders, led the cast sheep at £290.

Stirling (Cally)

BELTEX topped the trade at Caledonian Marts’ sale reaching 494p per kg from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuth­ill, Muthill, and to £231 from G and J Davie, Harviesmai­ling, Denny.

Overall the sale averaged 360.49p, with cast sheep realising £245 for a Texel ewe from M Jack, Carriston.

Thainstone

OLD season lambs (5937) averaged 367p per kg at Aberdeen and Northern Marts’ sale.

A top call of 500p came for Beltex from Bridgeton, Muir of Fowlis and to £230 for Suffolks from Woodhead, Cairness.

Cast sheep averaged £104.70 and sold to £285 for a Texel from Halley, Deerness.

Limousin crosses led the bullocks at 289p for a 710kg entry from Stoneyhill, Keithhall and to £2270.40 for one weighing 860kg from Daies, Wardhouse.

Heifers sold to 311p for a 620kg Limousin cross from Auchmalidd­le Mains, Maud and to £1980.15 for more of the same breed weighing 645kg from Middleton of Potterton, Potterton.

A 695kg Limousin from Scrabster House, Thurso, led the young bulls at 304p, whilst a 1065kg Simmental made £2460.15 for Leschangie Lodge, Kemnay.

Cast cattle sold to £2210 for a 972kg Limousin from Fairburn, Longmanhil­l.

Darlington

AN entry of 1718 hoggs was forward at Darlington Farmers’ auction Marts’ sale averaging 384p per kg.

A top of 472p came from TA Greensit and Son, Kirkby Fleetham and to £232 from RE and L Frank, Crab Tree.

On the cattle front, bullocks cashed in at 317p having attained 340p for a Limousin and to £2409 for a British Blue both from Messrs Askwith, Low Mown Meadows.

Limousins from Messrs Fettes Ltd, Braes of Enzie, led the heifer trade at 420p and £2654, to level at 324p.

St Boswells

BULLOCKS (73) and heifers (70) averaged 285p and 300p per kg respective­ly at Harrison and Hetheringt­on’s prime cattle sale.

Bullocks (73) sold to 332p from West Garleton and to £2118.60 from Traprain.

Heifers (70) sold to 340p from Penston and to £2184.84 from Longnewton.

Cast cattle sold to 247p from Gateshaw and £1827.14 from Hexpath.

Hoggs (1002) balanced out at 381p having peaked at 466p for Texels from Newton, Craithie and to £240 for Beltex from The Craggs.

A Texel ewe from CB Strang-Steel, Threepwood, led the cast sheep at £269.

Carlisle

TEXEL hoggs topped Harrison and Hetheringt­on’s sale when selling to £300 and 562p per kg from Messrs Roots, Kilnford Croft, Dumfries, and Messrs Fell, Stanger Hill, Wigton, respective­ly.

On the cattle front Limousins led all sections, with bullocks from Messrs Muir, Cleughbrae, Dumfries, making £2511.38 and 315p.

Heifers sold to £2313.23 for Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermout­h and to 319.50p for Messrs Beattie, Woodfield, Annan.

Lanark

LIMOUSINS topped Lawrie and Symington’s sale with heifers selling to 348p per kg and £2199 for R Warnock, Hill, Strathaven.

Bullocks reached 322p from D and E Lockhart, Fauldingcl­eugh, Lockerbie, and to £2018 from J Taylor and Son, South Arnloss, Falkirk.

Cast cows sold to £2016 from A Minto, Townhead, West Linton and to 251p from Hill Farm.

Beltex hoggs from A Baillie, Broomfield Lodge, Larkhall, secured 509p per kg, whilst Texels from Messrs Campbell, Overburns, Biggar, made £278.

TEXEL hoggs from E Paterson, Kayshill, made £230 at Craig Wilson’s sale.

Some 2755 hoggs averaged 367.8p per kg having sold to 459p on two occasions, firstly for Beltex from Messrs Kennedy, Lyonston and again Texels from Messrs Watson, Keyshill.

Cast sheep sold to £291 for a Texel ewe from G McCarter, Cauldhame Rigg.

On the cattle front, Limousin bullocks achieved 320p for the Smith family, North Boig, and to £1958.40 for Lanemark.

Heifers (15) averaged 303.75p and sold to 322p for Limousin crosses from both North Boig and Messrs Andrew, Rowanston.
