April milk price update
MÜLLER has announced their suppliers within the Müller Advantage Scheme are to receive 37.5ppl, representing a 1ppl increase on the discretionary base price.
Head of agriculture at Müller Milk and Ingredients, Richard Collins highlighted: “We recognise the ongoing pressures for supplying farms and with the market looking stable, we will continue to do what we can to support and protect security of supply.”
First Milk announced that their milk price will rise by 0.75ppl for April to 38.75ppl for a manufacturing standard litre, those with a member premium will remain at 0.5ppl.
Arla UK manufacturing price for conventional and organic milk sits at 40.02ppl and 48.68ppl respectively. With a quarterly currency adjustment having a negative effect on account prices by 0.04ppl and organic milk rising by 1.34ppl.
Board of director member at Arla Foods amba Arthur Fearnall said: “Global milk supplies are slightly lower ahead of the expected spring flush. Retail sales continue to pick up and commodity markets are stable.
“In the UK, the organic milk price increase is driven by growing demand. Overall, the outlook is stable.”
Arla UK agriculture director Paul Savage expressed: “It is a particularly exciting time for our farmer owners, we are currently holding our district meetings for all our owners to attend and are going through our farmer elections across every region in the UK.”
Grahams have increased their milk price by 1ppl since March to 36ppl, they also offer a separate price for Jersey milk at 45.4ppl.
