SHE’S confessed in the past that she is intimidated by large crowds and has been a virtual recluse for the last three years.

But after coming out of the shadows with her new single Hello, it seems Adele is set to put her fears behind her.

The Mail on Sunday has established that the superstar – whose hits include Rolling In The Deep and Skyfall – is scheduled to complete a remarkable comeback by performing in front of 135,000 fans at Glastonbury.

Industry insiders say the 27-year-old will headline the festival next June along with Muse and Coldplay. All three together make what some have called the perfect Glastonbury combination – one legendary band, an authentic rock group and an artist with tremendous commercial clout.

But the real coup for Glastonbury is getting Adele. The singer, who is worth £45million, took a break from music in 2012, and gave birth to her first son, Angelo.

Her comeback single Hello, released on October 25, was her first release for three years and sold 330,000 copies in the opening week. Meanwhile, its stylish video clocked up 27million views on YouTube on it debut day, breaking all existing records.

Adele’s long-awaited album, 25, will go on sale later this month and is expected to go straight to number one.

A music industry source said the singer had been told to ‘get herself out there’ to capitalise on her commercial success.

She has previously seemed to rule herself out of Glastonbury – famous for its muddy fields – because of its size. In an interview, she said: ‘I went this year to watch Kanye [West]. It was pretty insane… I don’t know if I could do it.’

All 135,000 tickets for next year’s event, between June 22 and 26, have been sold – the first batch were snapped up in just 30 minutes.

The other two headline acts are repeat performers – Muse last appeared in 2010 and Coldplay were there in 2011.
