INN CROWD MAKE EXTRA £1.4M A YEAR

RACHAEL Hamilton has run the Buccleuch Arms Hotel at St Boswells with her husband Billy since 2008 and now combines hotel life in Roxburghshire with catering for voters’ needs as a South Scotland list MSP. The hotel, with its Blue Coo Bistro, is a successful business pulling in around £1.4 million annually and was named Inn Of The Year at the 2015 Scottish Hotel Of The Year Awards. Although Tory MSP Mrs Hamilton remains a director and company secretary, she says she has now cut her duties at the hotel to only two days a month and will no longer take a direct salary for her work. But she still stands to benefit personally from the business – alongside her husband – if it continues to be profitable.
