Froome won a bronze in the time trial, behind Bradley Wiggins, in 2012, and his Rio prospects are good — especially after favourite, Tom Dumoulin, crashed out of the Tour on Friday. The Dutchman still hopes to be in Rio, but his chances must be compromised, particularly since the course is hilly and will put a strain on his wrist.

Tricky. Four years ago GB started the 2012 event with the favourite in Mark Cavendish, only for their tactics to unravel. After the Olympics, Froome will take on a second three-week Grand Tour, the Vuelta a Espana. Nairo Quintana and Alberto Contador will be there.
