Soccer star faces storm over homophobic rants

A PREMIER LEAGUE footballer could face a police investigation after a series of sexist, homophobic and racist tweets from his Twitter account emerged.

Burnley striker Andre Gray, 25, pictured right, was playing for nonleague Hinckley United four years ago when he appeared to tweet: ‘Is it me or are there gays everywhere? #Burn #Die #Makesmesick.’

The tweet was among a large number of vile messages, which if considered ‘grossly offensive or indecent’ could cross the threshold for prosecution.

The scandal erupted after Gray played a huge part in Burnley’s shock 2-0 victory over Liverpool yesterday. It appears he attracted new followers, some of whom scrolled back to see old messages.
