Travellers ‘ignoring jabs advice’
MORE than half of holiday-makers do not check whether they need to take vaccinations before heading abroad, according to a new survey.
This leaves many travellers each year potentially exposed to medical conditions that they might not be aware of, including malaria, dengue fever and typhoid, say high street chemists Superdrug.
About 60 per cent of British travellers admit to not packing a first-aid kit, and two-thirds forget antiseptic products.
When asked what health problems people had experienced abroad, the most commonly reported illnesses to have ruined holidays were stomach upsets and sore throats. The ability to deal quickly and effectively with the subsequent symptoms while away was exacerbated by people not taking health products on holiday with them.
