Day on the tiles a timely reminder that there’s no place for playboys
THIS week’s media coverage of a tiling course run by PFA Scotland offered a reminder that a career in football, particularly in this country, is no guarantee of the playboy lifestyle.
Danny Swanson of St Johnstone has been one of the outstanding performers of the season so far, while the return of Chris Erskine should pay dividends for Partick Thistle.
Considering their clear talent and relatively high profiles, it was a little surprising to see them on the tools in an industrial estate, but endearing to hear them address their futures in such a grounded way.
All aspiring young footballers should take note.
Fans feeling the urge to take the week’s frustrations out on the likes of Swanson or Erskine at a stadium some time soon may also wish to consider these are honest workers, too. Clearly dealing with the same pressures as the rest of us.
