Rangers must up the tempo, admits Miller
KENNY MILLER concedes that Rangers will be in big trouble against Celtic on Saturday week unless they quickly sort out their early-season malaise.
Friday’s 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock means Rangers will approach the renewal of Old Firm hostilities with a title bid already hampered by four dropped points in the first month of the campaign.
Mark Warburton’s team look a shadow of the exciting outfit that won promotion at a canter last term, falling behind this season in three of four Ladbrokes Premiership fixtures.
Miller’s goals contributed to narrow wins over Dundee and Motherwell, while come-frombehind draws were secured against Hamilton and Kilmarnock. However, the champions are up next and Miller warned that Rangers have a fortnight to rediscover that trademark tempo — or face the consequences in the cauldron of Parkhead.
‘That intensity to our play, that edge both defensively and offensively needs to be there otherwise it will get exposed,’ said the veteran striker.
‘It has already been exposed in our games, so obviously with the nature of the match coming up, we will have to bring our A game.
‘It is something we will definitely talk about over the next two weeks. We train with an intensity. Always. That’s the baffling factor.
‘We know we can trouble Celtic but the intensity and tempo hasn’t been in our game in the first half of our last two matches and we must have that.’
