I’m the catwalk weirdo!

Picked on at school, now walking tall

- By Sally Rose

SHE’S the latest face of Burberry and regularly features in glossy magazine photoshoots and catwalk shows for the top fashion names.

Yet Misha Hart, 21, claims her success is only partly down to her tall, lithe frame, flawless skin and angular cheekbones – and more to do with the fact she’s ‘weird’ and from Glasgow.

The model, scouted in her home city in 2014 before signing for Viva Models and working for labels including Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu and Courrèges, said: ‘People work with me because they see something they like in my character.

‘I’ve just always been a total weirdo. I guess I kind of thrived on being different.’

She added: ‘I got picked on at school but it didn’t bother me because I always kind of knew that all the best people are weirdos. All the people I’m inspired by, all the people we’ve talked about, they’re all weirdos as well. I want to be a weirdo, that’s fine by me.’

Miss Hart was one of a small, privileged group of models unveiled as the newest faces of Burberry in January in a Mario Testino-shot campaign.

All were hand-picked by the internationally-acclaimed photographer for their ‘energy and attitude’.

Now using her rock-edge chic to her advantage, she is also taking the first tentative steps towards a career in music, fronting her new band, The Cut. Yesterday, she said: ‘The idea of modelling wasn’t on my radar growing up.

I’ve been writing songs since I was eight years old. Both my parents were in bands and my sister writes music too.’

Miss Hart added: ‘I’m still the same girl sitting and writing songs in Glasgow that I always was.’
