Dementia help in a ‘memory box’
A NEW website is offering ‘reminiscence kits’ designed to help dementia patients by evoking childhood memories. Research has shown that stimulating cognitive ability through reminiscence can delay the effects of memory loss. Products from website Dementia Emporium include a wartime memory box (£199) that contains a collection of nostalgic visual, tactile and sensory items including a Home Guard hat, gas mask, hurricane lantern and even scent cards. It is thought that handling such items can potentially trigger precious memories.
