How I got a run for my money

KEEN runner Michael Rimmer is grateful he had the foresight to buy £500 of dollars the day before the referendum. It means he and girlfriend Sophie Marchant, both 24, have $120 more to spend during their break in New York this week.

The couple, from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, are celebrating their fifth anniversary together with their first visit to the Big Apple, where Michael is running in a halfmarathon today.

He says: ‘I thought the pound could be in trouble after the vote, so I planned ahead. We will do all the sights including a visit to the Empire State Building and Central Park with more dollars in our pockets than if we had bought our currency last week.’
