Pam the anti-porn crusader? That’s a bit rich
Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson (right) is reinventing herself as an anti-pornography crusader. That’s bizarre, considering that in the 1980s and 1990s she posed for Playboy countless times and her shows started blurring the lines between mainstream television and soft-porn.

Pamela Anderson says that the widespread availability of pornography can lead to marriage breakdown. She is quite right: when porn is used to replace sex with a partner, it does have a detrimental effect on relationships.
But as a sex and relationships expert, I also know that porn can have a positive effect. Lots of couples watch erotica together to keep their sex lives exciting. Fantasy is a great way for couples to stave off the boredom of monogamy, and porn can have a healthy influence on marriages.

Many people have criticised Pamela’s stand, considering her sex-symbol past and her very famous sex tape. However, I think it is worth pointing out that her story with porn is not as simple as some people may think. Her sex tape with her ex-husband was in fact a home video stolen from their house. Furthermore, Playboy and Baywatch in her day were not comparable to porn. Things were more innocent in the 1990s.
