Gladbach to miss key trio for Celtic tie

- By Mark Walker

BORUSSIA MONCHENGLADBACH will face Celtic in their Champions League showdown in midweek without three key strikers. The Germans were held yesterday to a disappointing goalless draw at home against 10-man Bundesliga bottom side Hamburg, after they missed two penalties. Gladbach travel to Scotland for a crunch showdown in Group C. And manager Andre Schubert admitted after the game it looks certain they will be without key strikers Raffael and Thorgan Hazard. They already have fellow forward Josip Drmic crocked and the shot-shy Germans will be struggling to include Brazilian ace Raffael and Hazard — brother of Chelsea ace Eden.

Schubert said: ‘Celtic will be a difficult game for us, especially after a game like we had today. It’s a very important match for our season.

‘We knew as soon as the group was drawn that the two games were going to be very important with us both realistically fighting for third place. So we have two important matches against Celtic.

‘To be honest, I haven’t studied Celtic in much depth because I only ever concentrate on our next opponent. Now I will begin to prepare for Celtic immediately.

‘Everyone in the world knows about the atmosphere at Celtic. I will tell the players not to be scared by it, but to go out and enjoy it because it is unique. Hopefully, we will be able to quiet down the atmosphere.’
