PROUD FORAN GIVES PLAYERS PRAISE RATHER THAN A ROCKET

- By Jim Black

INVERNESS manager Richie Foran refused to criticise his players after Hearts twice came from behind to snatch a point at Caledonian Stadium.

‘I’m delighted with the performance,’ said Foran (below). ‘It was just a couple of mistakes that cost us goals and, overall, I have no complaints.

‘I thought it was better than (the 3-0 victory on) Wednesday night at Motherwell and if we keep playing like that, we’ll win most games.

‘I told the players I was delighted. They played the ball on the deck and the balance was good. Some of the play for our goals was excellent.

‘The first goal was outstanding and Iain Vigurs’ ball for Aaron Doran’s goal was great and he has outmuscled the defender to score.

‘Aaron looked a lot sharper and it’s just fitness with him now.

‘The quality is there and it’s another game under his belt. Once he gets three, he’ll be match-fit and then you’ll see the best of him.

‘Liam Polworth has an abundance of quality and pace but you don’t want to single players out. I thought we were immense all over the park.

‘Our mistakes cost us goals but that’s football and I’m not going to hammer the boys because I’m not frustrated.

‘I’m feeling really good about how we played. I never thought we would lose and if they keep listening and trying to improve, we’ll have a really good season.’

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson said: ‘There were positives and negatives to take from it for both sides.

‘The positive for us is that when we went 2-0 down we played really great football to get ourselves back into the match and possibly could have gone on and won it.

‘The negative is that we came here and scored three goals and left with only a point.’
