Suspect held on girl’s death

A MAN has been detained by police in connection with a ‘suspicious’ death in Edinburgh.

Officers were called to a flat in Hutchison Road, Slateford, around 10.25am on Saturday following concern for a woman.

The Scottish Ambulance Service also attended and the 21-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Alwyn Bell of Edinburgh CID said: ‘Our thoughts are with the young woman’s family at this incredibly difficult time and officers continue to offer them support.

‘The investigation into the full circumstances surrounding her death continues.

‘However, we’re not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this.’
