How to tell the difference

BEAVERS, left, are about the size of a tubby spaniel. Vegetarian­s, they have large, prominent front teeth and a broad, flat tail. There are thought to be about 400 living wild in Scotland. The carnivorou­s platypus, right, has a ‘duck’ bill, is closer in size to a chihuahua, and has venomous leg spurs. There is only one – stuffed – specimen in Scotland.
