Tone’s totally right – and utterly wrong
TONY BLAIR’S comeback ‘reverse Brexit’ campaign coincided with the news that Richard Curtis is doing a mini remake of Love Actually for Comic Relief.
The former PM’s speech was brilliant – as is the nation’s favourite Christmas movie – but both are, I’m afraid, sentimental turns whose moments have passed. I agreed with every word of what Mr Blair said (and the reason it went down like a bucket of cold sick with the Brexiteers is because the truth hurts), and I think Mr Blair had balls to say it – but it was the right speech, by the wrong man, at the wrong time.
Love is no longer all around, Tone.
