VERDICT

SO, AFTER 33 eggs, 900g of flour, 2kg of butter, a litre of cream and 1.5kg of golden caster sugar, a winner has emerged. And the result surprised me and upset my GBBO-loving daughters.

Despite a magnificent Victoria sponge by Mary, I declare Prue the new queen of British baking. She won three out of five categories. She may well prove to be the cherry on the Bake Off cake.
