Lorry ban will put us on road to ruin, Jenny

-

I have always admired Jenny Seagrove (left) as a fine and very underrated actress, but her thoughts in her Event magazine interview last week left me very confused. She thinks lorries should be banned from the centre of London. If we banned lorries, how would food be delivered to places such as Harrods, where people like her shop? How would Bond Street shops receive their clothes or get their bins emptied? If Jenny really wanted to do something about pollution, perhaps she should get her friends to ditch their four-wheeldrive vehicles or stop travelling first-class on planes, where one seat takes up the room of four. Stephen Birds, Bury I completely agree with Jenny’s stance on lorries in London. I’m a cyclist and I feel totally unsafe on the road with the number of lorries thundering past, not to mention the air pollution they cause. I don’t think they should be banned completely from Central London but there should be certain times that are lorry-free – say from 7am to 10am, when a lot of people are getting to work.
