Laird California dreaming in spite of stormy weather

-

GOLF: Scotland’s Martin Laird is handily placed at the weather-affected Genesis Open in Los Angeles. The 34-year-old was one of only 24 players able to complete his second round on Friday after flash floods and a three-under-par 68 left him close to the lead on four under. Thursday’s first round had been delayed by fog and there were more problems on course yesterday due to the inclement conditions, which led to a further delay. Meanwhile, home player Brett Rumford led the qualifiers into this morning’s Super Six Perth in Western Australia. He finished 17 under par after three rounds. Scot Duncan Stewart also made it through to the matchplay stage of the event.
