Evidence is mounting against McGhee

-

HOW many more excuses will there be with big, mad, mental Mark McGhee?

If it’s not brainless Aberdeen fans, it’s John McKendrick or Chris Davies or ‘overzealous bouncers’ in Dundee. When is it going to be about him?

His behaviour at Pittodrie, no matter the provocation, cannot be excused and the post-match remarks about fourth official McKendrick were unnecessary. Time will tell, but it is difficult to believe that he was sent to the stand for nothing.

Claiming he had no idea who McKendrick was was needless too. The official has been a Category One referee for nearly 12 years.

McGhee said the same thing about Celtic No 2 Davies following their unsightly spat at Fir Park earlier this season — having made mention of him in the match programme — and it creates the unfortunate impression of trying to belittle others.

There was that nonsense about refusing to shake hands with Ronny Deila last term. Since then, Deila’s successor Brendan Rodgers has already accused McGhee of behaviour unbefitting of a member of the Scotland management team.

Can Motherwell afford this kind of conduct from their manager, now destined for another touchline ban, either? All parties need to sit down and get to the bottom of what McGhee is becoming — and why?
