5 things we learned

- By Gary Heatly

There is still more to come from this team

The second-half comeback will be talked about for years to come, but there is still a lot more to come from this group.

In the first half, a few frailties from the French match were still evident, but the fast-paced, in your face style of rugby seen against Ireland three weeks ago returned after the break.

A work in progress for sure, but two wins from three and Twickenham next up.

Whatever Vern Cotter said at half-time worked

Scotland were only four points down at the interval but Wales had been on top — and something was not quite clicking for the hosts.

However, this bunch do not panic like Scots teams of old and Vern’s words of wisdom saw them come flying out of the blocks in the second 40 minutes.

Wales simply could not cope with the work rate and pace.

Tim Visser showed that he is hungry to keep the starting jersey

The Dutch-born winger had not started a Test since the Australia match in the autumn, but boy did he make his presence felt.

He made a cracking try-saving tackle on Rhys Webb, gave a nice pass to Tommy Seymour and capped it off with a score of his own.

One of his best games in a Scotland shirt.

Tommy Seymour could be winging his way to the Lions

The key to being a world-class player is taking your chances when they come.

Tommy Seymour had quite a quiet first half by his own high standards, but he came out after half-time flying.

His finish for the 44th-minute try was out of the top drawer and Warren Gatland was watching.

John Barclay relished captaincy duties

Although Vern Cotter will get most of the praise for the second-half turnaround, and rightly so, John Barclay must take some of the credit.

Having been around the block a few times, the back-row player was just the right man to keep his young charges calm when things threatened to get away from them.

In the second half, he led by example with some bone-crunching tackles.
