Wenger decides on Arsenal future

- By Rob Draper

ARSENE WENGER has made a decision on his Arsenal future and, after watching his side crash 3-1 at West Bromwich Albion yesterday, has vowed to make it public ‘very soon’.

Wenger gave no indication of whether he is staying or going but the Frenchman is under real pressure after a sixth defeat in nine games.

There is now a huge question mark over whether Arsenal can finish in the top four, something they have done in each of Wenger’s 20 years at the club.

He said: ‘I know what I will do in my future. You will soon know. Very soon. We are in a unique bad patch that we never had in 20 years.’

GIVEN what he went through when his daughter overcame cancer, Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero was never going to be fazed by goalkeeping musical chairs in Pep Guardiola’s eventful first season at the Etihad Stadium.

Last season, Caballero was No2 to Joe Hart, but also had the joy of being a Wembley cup final hero against today’s opponents, Liverpool, just a week after he’d conceded five goals at Chelsea.

The 35-year-old must have feared slipping further down the pecking order after Guardiola signed Claudio Bravo from Barcelona in August. But, instead, Hart went on loan to Torino and Bravo lost form.

‘I am really happy that I have the shirt now,’ said Caballero. ‘The boss took the decision to put me on the pitch for a long run of games.

‘It probably was a surprise for a lot of people but I’ll try to keep it for as long as I can.’
