Chelsea cruising towards title after Cahill clinches victory in Potteries

CHELSEA extended their lead at the top of the Premier League to 13 points after a 2-1 win away to Stoke City.

Gary Cahill struck the winner with three minutes left to play.

Willian had given the Blues the lead with a free-kick only for the Potters to draw level through Jonathan Walters’ penalty.

Erik Pieters conceded a needless corner with a poor back-pass to Lee Grant and the clearance from David Luiz’s header came to Cahill to fire home.

Meanwhile, Everton romped home to a 4-0 victory over Hull City thanks to a Romelu Lukaku double after goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Enner Valencia.

The victory lifts the Toffees into sixth place ahead of Manchester United, who have three games in hand.

Leicester recorded their first away win of the season as they won 3-2 at West Ham.

The Foxes raced into a two-goal lead when Riyad Mahrez and Robert Huth made it 2-0 after seven minutes.

Manuel Lanzini fired home a superb freekick before Jamie Vardy restored the cushion. Andre Ayew finished the scoring with a deft header.

Bournemout­h defeated Swansea 2-0 at home to move nine points clear of the drop zone. Alfie Mawson gave the Cherries the lead after he put the ball into his own net.

Benik Afobe doubled the advantage to leave Swansea in the midst of a relegation battle.

A Troy Deeney own goal condemned Watford to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace. The win takes Palace four points clear of relegation with a game in hand.

Sunderland remain bottom after a 0-0 draw with Burnley at home.
