Actress, single WLTM* prince of her dreams
(Don’t worry Harry, it’s NOT Meghan!)
SHE’S bagged a Prince, so Meghan Markle clearly knows a thing or two about dating. Which surely makes her an ideal choice to star in a TV advertisement for the online matchmaking firm eHarmony. Millions of viewers glued to last week’s gripping Broadchurch finale may have been astonished to see the beauty expected to become Prince Harry’s bride feature in the commercial, sipping a glass of wine… opposite a large pig. But appearances can be deceptive and the pretty brunette in the ad was not Meghan, after all, but British actress Genevieve Capovilla, who happens to bear a remarkable likeness to Ms Markle. And given the current fascination for the woman who has won young Harry’s heart, it’s not surprising eHarmony chose to screen the romantic advert in front of a massive audience on Easter Monday. In the advertisement – seen by 8.7million ITV viewers – Ms Capovilla’s character Jenny is seen enjoying a glass of wine with a date who is far from Prince Charming. She seems unimpressed with the portly pig wearing a smart collar in the upmarket bar. But as a voiceover extols eHarmony’s matchmaking skills, the boar is transformed into a handsome young man wearing a bow tie and a beard – a young man who doesn’t look too dissimilar to Harry. Like Meghan, 35, Ms Capovilla has mixed roots – her father is Italian and her mother is from Jamaica. Ms Markle’s mother, Doria Radlan, is African-American while her father is white, and Meghan has spoken about being ‘biracial’.
A biography for Ms Capovilla on the Internet Movie Database website says she was raised in England and is fluent in Italian and French.
Meanwhile, life’s not all been rosy for Ms Markle when it comes to romance – in 2013, the Suits actress divorced her movie producer husband Trevor Engelson.
It is rumoured that Harry, who began dating Ms Markle last year, will pop the question in the near future.
