The caller who had 999 lives

WHEN police received an emergency call last week, only for the caller to remain silent before the line died, they feared the worst.

But on ringing back to check if anyone needed help, staff discovered that the 999 number had been dialled by a cat in York. Its embarrasse­d owner explained his pet had somehow managed to press the landline’s buttons – giving new meaning to the expression ‘cat-call’.
