PARS’ PENALTY FURY AT ‘DIVE’ BY HIPPOLYTE

-

ALLAN JOHNSTON claimed that Falkirk winger Myles Hippolyte bragged about conning referee Gavin Duncan as ten-man Dunfermline succumbed to a tempestuous defeat against Falkirk.

The Pars were leading 1-0 thanks to Nicky Clark’s effort when Hippolyte fell under a challenge from Sean Murdoch, allowing Aaron Muirhead to equalise from the penalty spot.

Duncan became public enemy No1 after he dismissed Lewis Martin for hauling down John Baird as the striker hared through on goal.

Falkirk made their advantage count when substitute Nathan Austin headed home a fine Craig Sibbald delivery.

Johnston fumed: ‘It’s never a penalty. Sean Murdoch palms the ball out and Hippolyte just goes down. He dives.

‘Then, for him to come down the tunnel and say it — I don’t know if he was just trying to be smart or not, because our boys obviously weren’t happy.’

Falkirk’s triumph ensures they remain one point ahead of Dundee United in the race for second spot with two games left to play.

‘Not many teams will come from behind to win here,’ said Bairns boss Peter Houston.
