Hibs star duo ‘have their price’ but Lennon is reluctant to let them go
NEIL LENNON insists ‘everyone has their price’ as Hibs prepare for a summer of speculation surrounding star duo John McGinn and Jason Cummings.
But the Easter Road boss is adamant the club is in no hurry to cash in on players he is desperate to hang on to for Premiership life next term.
The club turned down an offer of up to £1.8million from English League One side Peterborough for Cummings last year and Championshipbound Sunderland are said to be preparing a £2m bid for the striker.
McGinn beat his 21-year-old teammate to this season’s PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year award and Celtic are among those credited with a possible move for the Scotland cap.
Cummings still has three years to run on the contract he penned last summer, whilst McGinn has two years left on his deal, leaving Hibs with a strong hand in negotiations.
But Lennon admits the Easter Road hierarchy may have tough decisions to make on the pair if their valuation is met.
He said: ‘Everyone has their price.
‘I don’t want to sell them, I’m not saying we will sell them. We are in control — the club. We’ve got them on long-term deals and the two of them seem happy here, Jason especially.
‘But finances maybe will dictate. If we get big enough offers in, it will give us something to think about.
‘At the minute, we don’t have to sell them. We’re not in a hurry to do that.
‘But you don’t want to stop the progress of individual players.
‘They’re top players and they’ve been good for Hibs but I’m not saying this is the end.’
