Foran vows to get rid of ‘bad apples’
DEVASTATED Richie Foran vowed to root out the ‘bad apples’ whose presence in his dressing room played a part in Inverness Caley Thistle suffering relegation to the Ladbrokes Championship yesterday.
A 3-2 home victory over Motherwell was not enough for Foran’s side to stage a late escape from the bottom of the table.
And the rookie manager admitted that he made a mid-season blunder in not purging his squad of players he believed were not producing everything required to nudge Inverness away from trouble.
As he expressed a desire to stay on as boss to bring the club back to the top flight at the first time of asking, Foran said: ‘We lose (Greg) Tansey but I hope to have the other 10 here, have a smaller squad and look forward to getting rid of two or three bad apples.
‘I should have removed them in January because they weren’t giving 100 per cent for the jersey. That was the mistake I made. They haven’t cared enough.
‘If I’m here, I’ll be getting rid of them. I thought I could have changed a few of them but I should have replaced them.
‘Over the past few games I have played players I really trust. I gambled over too many and too many let me down.’
