Park life? It’s pure bliss

- By Dominic Connolly

IF YOU have enjoyed any time in the countryside over the past few months and are thinking of somewhere more permanent to escape to, one answer might be a park home – either as a holiday refuge or as a full-time residence.

As their name suggests, park homes are set in parks rather than on roads, streets or lanes, and are surrounded by nature.

So they boast much of what many of us look for when seeking an alternative to our working lives – green spaces, birdsong, clean air, and peace and quiet.

And thanks to the way they are constructed, park homes are often cheaper to buy than traditional bricks-and-mortar dwellings.

For those thinking about buying a park home soon, there are a number of open days coming up around the country where potential purchasers can view lodges in a number of different locations.

South West Holiday Parks’ Seaview International location at Boswinger, on the south coast of Cornwall, has open weekends every week.

Holiday homes there can be bought from between £39,000 and £81,950.

Willow Park, on the Warwickshire/ Worcestershire border, is a familyowned park that has lodges for sale from £215,000. Homes are available to view every Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to 4pm, but there is also a special open day on Saturday, September 9.

Willow Park, which has a little shop on site, prides itself on its welcoming atmosphere.

Buses to nearby Stratford-uponAvon and Evesham stop at the entrance every 30 minutes, while the village of Bidford-on-Avon is within walking distance.

Wyldecrest’s Orchard Park in Elton, Cheshire, and Gattington Park in Coningsby, Lincolnshire, both open their doors to prospective buyers on October 7 and 8 from 10am to 4pm. Meanwhile, Saltmarshe Castle Park, in Bromyard, Herefordshire, can be visited on October 14 and 15, and Radcliffe Park, in Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, on October 14.

Haulfryn, which has parks for holiday home ownership and full-time residential use, operates a system by which potential purchasers can make an appointment to view parks – just visit haulfrynholidayhomes.co.uk or haulfrynresidential.co.uk.

Parkdean Resorts has parks from Cornwall to Scotland and from Wales to Essex, but the lodges are for holiday use only.

Go to parkdeanresorts.co.uk to discover how to become ‘an owner for a day’.

Similarly, holiday-home company Hoburne, which sells caravans and lodges in parks in South and South West England, has a way for you to book your own open day via its website, hoburne.com.
