I used to be a police inspector before retraining as a teacher and I have never worked so hard, so complaints about inset days can be hard to bear.

These sessions exist so that we are informed about changes to the curriculum. Notice I do not mention training on how to be a better teacher; there is little of that, merely box-ticking relating to political decisions.
