PEDRO LEFT WITH A HEADACHE

- By Fraser Mackie

PEDRO CAIXINHA could have a serious injury headache on the left side of his defence to contend with in a huge week for Rangers.

Lee Wallace is a huge doubt for the Betfred Cup quarter-final against Partick Thistle and Saturday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox. The Rangers skipper suffered a recurrence of a groin injury at Partick on Friday night as Rangers dropped two Ladbrokes Premiership points. He hobbled off on 12 minutes and was replaced by on-loan Cardiff City defender Declan John.

However, John later admitted that he has been nursing a knock. ‘We will have to see how Lee is and I’ve a bit of a niggle as well on my ankle,’ John told Rangers TV. ‘Of course, ask anyone, they would love to get a start. I haven’t played a game in three weeks so it was quite tough to come on.

‘It was bad for Lee to go down, he’s a top player for us. But I was glad to get on and get some minutes in. Hopefully I can get more on Tuesday and Saturday.’

Lee Hodson, who hasn’t featured since a substitute appearance for Northern Ireland against Czech Republic a fortnight ago, could come into contention to switch from the right if John is ruled out.
